How to clean polypropylene carpets

MATERIAL

Polypropylene fiber matting comes from a thermoplastic resin polymer. They are extremely popular due to their efficient scraping actions and course texture. This makes polypropylene the ideal material to remove dust and grime from shoes soles. Polypropylene fibers make an excellent custom logo rugs. It is strong, durable, and resistant to stains. This material is even resistant to chemicals. These mats work well in high-traffic areas due to their reasonable crush resistance. Polypropylene also has weatherproof properties and can withstand rot, mildew, moisture, and changes in weather conditions. Polypropylene has the added advantage that colors will not fade. The color is incorporated during the fiber creation process. Polypropylene matting has a wide range in colors and can last a lot longer. The matting can be used indoors and outdoors, as well as when it is necessary to trap dirt in reception areas. It’s cheaper than nylon and is therefore a better choice for matting in offices, retail, and leisure.

CLEANING/CARE

Vacuum

The polypropylene flooring mats should be vacuumed as often as possible, especially in areas with high traffic. Daily vacuuming will pull dirt out and keep the mat from getting soiled. It makes it easier for you to keep the mat clean by vacuuming each day.

Spills

It is a good rule of thumb to remove any spills from any floor mat immediately. This will prevent any staining or damage. Polypropylene matting is no different.

• Use a piece of paper towel or white cotton to mop up the liquid. Never rub the stain, as this will make it more severe. Use a lighter or white sponge for heavier liquid spillages.
• To remove more stubborn stains, you could use a small amount of liquid detergent in some water.
• You should repeat the process at least two more times until you get your mat completely clean.

Oil stains should always be treated quickly because polypropylene absorbs oils, which can cause the stain to set fast. Oil stains may require the use of a dry cleaning solution. Blot gently to get rid of the stain and vacuum afterwards.

For dirt, mud, or other solid stains

• With a dull-edged, scraping tool, remove as much solid material as possible.
• Finally, rinse with clean water and blot it with a white cloth.
• After this, vacuum to remove any dirt and dry it off.
